10 Things to avoid on holiday.
Whether you are coming to Santa Ponsa or going anywhere else for your holidays, this could be useful:
1-On your first night of arrival avoid excessive alcohol. To drink in excess when you arrive is the absolute biggest mistake to make because you do not know the area, you will not find your way back to the hotel, you will spend more money than you had planned to and you can easily get yourself into trouble. The most critical night abroad is always the very first night and a mixture of alcohol, excitement and jet lag can be too much to cope with and can spoil the rest of your holiday.
2-Always hire a safe box at your hotel, simply because there is no hotel in the world that is ever responsible for valuables left in your room.
3-Never carry large amounts of cash and/or your passport to the beach. While Santa Ponsa is a very safe touristic area thanks to the wonderful work of the local authorities, your belongings at the beach are vulnerable while you are sunbathing on your sun bed with your eyes closed or when you are going for a quick swim.
4-Avoid scooters. We do understand that there are establishments that make a living by renting them, but we also know that there are many accidents every summer too.
5-Absolutely avoid all unknown drinks. Many places offer “special cocktails” and unbelievably cheap prices for non-bottled drinks. Avoid them at all costs! If the establishment is selling them so cheap, common sense says that they are buying the cheapest ingredients and mixing them at their convenience. This could be terrible because in many cases the drink mixes with juices that might be from the day before and while with nice, cool ice and a lot of added sugar they might taste delicious, your body will not accept it kindly. Remember that you will pay for it the following day.
6-If you arrived to the island via air avoid scuba diving on your first day of arrival and the day before departure, as the change of pressure can seriously affect you.
7- Life is a mirror! Be kind and respectful to everyone else and in return everyone will be kind and respectful to you and this applies while you are on holiday too. Just remember that no one likes rude people, and of course if the waiter sitting you in the restaurant finds you rude, he is not going to give you the best table and the shuttle bus driver will not help you with your cases etc. etc. As you can imagine this list could be very long!
8-Be courteous to other guests and respect them the same way that you wish to be respected. Remember that a hotel is like a community and someone that breaks the rules will be thrown out and rightfully so. If your are thrown out of your hotel you don´t need to bother reading the small print because it always says that there is no right of compensation for the unused nights! In the past years even the most prestigious hotels and cruise lines will throw you out if you do not respect their rules and they really have no mercy when it comes to abusive guests disrupting the stay of other guests.
9-Don´t be unrealistic. To have a budget is fantastic, but make sure that you are realistic about your budget and you have a plan B. Things happen on holiday too. Make sure you have sufficient spare money for emergencies as things do sometimes happen unexpectedly. If you missed your flight what would you and your family do? Sleep at the airport? Walk back to your country? A back up is a smart plan.
10-Don´t be careless in the sun. Be smart. Get to know your tolerance with the sun and do not jump into it for a full day on your first day and never fall asleep in the sun. Serious sunburn can cause significant problems and it will literally spoil your wonderful stay on the island and possibly spoil the holiday of your loved ones.
